Research Activities
Full Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Department of Physics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the leader of the Observational Cosmology with Galaxy Clusters research group.
Our research focuses on galaxy clusters, the largest gravitationally bound structures in the Universe, which serve both as astrophysical laboratories for investigating the physical processes governing the formation and evolution of cosmic structures and as powerful cosmological probes.
Our work primarily combines X-ray observations, microwave measurements of the Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect, and cosmological numerical simulations. Our main scientific interests include the thermodynamic properties of the intracluster medium, the reconstruction of galaxy cluster mass distributions, the formation and evolution of cosmic structures, and the determination of cosmological parameters, with particular emphasis on the Hubble constant.
