I would like to inform you that there will be a seminar on Tuesday  May 28th 2024 given by Prof. Massimo Vergassola.  Below all the information.

Speaker:  Prof. Massimo Vergassola (Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris)

Title:  Fluid dynamics and mechanics in early embryogenesis

h: 14.30

Room: Aula Fisica della Materia (Department of Physics UTV)

Abstract:  The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is a classical model organism of embryonic development. The mechanisms that lead to an adult, fully-developed animal from an unstructured embryo are at the core of biology, and their investigation keeps unveiling  surprises and discoveries. I shall cover the first two hours (at room temperature)  of this fascinating process, illustrating the numerous and relevant contributions  brought by the overlap between biology and physics, which covers a broad range of phenomena from fluid dynamics to mechanics.
