Titolo: Generation of Cosmic Ray Trajectories in Magnetohydrodynamical Turbulence using a Generative Diffusion Model
Tema: "Understanding the dynamics of highly energetic charged particles (e.g. cosmic rays) in magnetohydrodynamical turbulence plays a fundamental role in many challenges within astro-, geo- and plasma physics. However, generating Lagrangian trajectories requires a great amount of computational power, since not only the velocity field needs to be fully resolved on all time and length scales, but also the highly turbulent magnetic and electric fields. Recently, the state-of-the-art generative diffusion model was proven to be successful in accurately reproducing all pertinent statistical benchmarks of regular Lagrangian hydrodynamical turbulence. In this internship project, this diffusion model is applied to generate cosmic ray trajectories in a magnetically conducting flow with a high Reynolds number, therefore bypassing the need for direct numerical simulations to acquire reliable data."
