Dr. Domenico Corona was born in Rome in 1998, and he graduated high school from the Liceo Classico “Francesco Vivona”. He received his BSc in Chemistry from the Sapienza University of Rome in 2020, with a thesis in Solid State Chemistry supervised by Prof. Dr. Sergio Brutti. DC earned his MSc in Materials Science ( Summa Cum Laude ) from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2022, with a thesis in Solid State Physics supervised by Prof. Dr. Olivia Pulci and Dr. Francesco Buonocore. DC obtained his MEng in Photonics ( Masterkolloquium: 1.0 ) from the TH Wildau (DE) in 2023, with a thesis in Nano- und Oberflächenphysik supervised by Prof. Dr. Carolin Schmitz-Antoniak and Prof. Dr. Olivia Pulci. He completed his PhD in Physics ( Doctor Europaeus and Summa Cum Laude ) at University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2026, with a thesis in Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics advised by Prof. Dr. Olivia Pulci and Dr. Francesco Buonocore. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Condensed Matter Theory Group.
In 2022, DC was a Research Intern at the Laboratory of High Performance Computing of the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (IT); working on solid-state electrolytes interfaces with Dr. Francesco Buonocore and Dr. Massimo Celino.
In 2023, DC was a MSCA Early Stage Researcher at the Quantum Systems and Nanomaterials Group of the University of Exeter (UK) and at MaxLLG Ltd., within the frame of the DiSeTCom Project (H2020-MSCA-RISE-2018, G.A. ID: 823728); working on opto-valleytronics in Xenes with Prof. Dr. Mikhail Portnoi and Dr. Eros Mariani.
In 2025, DC was a Visiting Doctoral Student at the Laboratory of Theory and Simulation of Materials of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (CH) and at the Laboratory for Materials Simulations of the Paul Scherrer Institut; working on strongly correlated materials with Prof. Dr. Nicola Marzari and Dr. Iurii Timrov.
Since 2026, DC is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Condensed Matter Theory and Optics of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (DE).
Since 2021, DC has been a Scientific Associate at the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN, CSN4); since 2022, he has been a member of the University Centre for Computation in Science and Technology (CAST), concurrently a Young Researcher at the European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility (ETSF) and a Member of the Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics (MIFP). DC is the winner of 6 merit-based scholarships as Teaching and Laboratory Assistant; of an Erasmus+ Scholarship; and the PI of 5 CINECA ISCRA Projects. His current focus is on quantum many-body theory and HPC in Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science, for Advanced Energy Materials.
