The Curriculum in Astrophysics and Space Science of the Master in Physics is a research-oriented course of study that offer students wide possibilities to specialize by allowing the choice of specific, tailored study plans.

Starting from a broad, solid introduction to Physics and Astrophysics, the topics will narrow and deepen during the course studies. The specialization process will differentiate student’s paths, lectures and Master Thesis topics, and will be structured around six study plans:

  • Space Weather
  • Habitability & Exoplanets
  • Hot & Energetic Universe
  • Cosmology & New physics
  • Dark Matter
  • Gravitational Waves

Taking advantage of a new generation of terrestrial and space-based instruments, the MSc in  Astrophysics and Space Science digests new discoveries concerning the origin, structure, and evolution of planets, stars, star systems, and the universe, and uses them as your textbooks.

This programme pays special attention to both the analysis and astrophysical interpretation of data and to the technological side of astronomical research, and thus prepares you to be a competitive candidate in the international PhD circuit.

Admission Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Physics or in a related subject with at least three years of study and at least 180 ECTS Credits (conversion rule of thumb for non-EU applicants: 1 ECTS = 30 hours of study).

More information can be retrieved by contacting the course coordinator.

Here we propose a Space Weather plan, but this does not exhaust the possible choices, and students can present plans which differ from this. In that case, the Board will judge the consistency of such plans and accept them or propose some modifications to the students.
