Chiara Calascibetta is a PhD student (Dept. Of Physics University of Rome Tor vergata) and she works under the supervision of Prof. Luca Biferale and Dr. M. Cencini (CNR, Rome). She mainly collaborate with Dr. A. Celani (ICTP, Trieste), Dr. F. Borra (LPENS, Paris), Dr. Jérémie Bec (CNRS, Nice) and Prof. A. Mailybaev (IMPA, Rio de Janeiro).
She is specializing in the field of Statistical Mechanics with interest in turbulent and complex systems. Her main research activity is focused on the study of control problems using both data-driven (Reinforcement Learning) and equation-informed (Optimal Control) approaches. In particular, she is studying systems of Lagrangian active particles navigating in complex fluids, optimizing their navigation in order to achieve specific goals (i.e., from a theoretical point of view, in order to understand which are the most important degrees of freedom involved in the dynamics). She is also studying the passive scalar turbulence. Thus, from the computational point of view, she studies numerical methods for simulating the time evolution of the Navier-Stokes equations on high performance computing facilities. In particular, she is working with parallel computing codes on CPUs and GPUs.
