Abstract:

The Minor Planet Center (MPC) is a NASA funded project that operates at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and is the single worldwide location for receipt and distribution of positional measurements of minor planets, comets and outer irregular natural satellites of the major planets-
As part of the daily activities, the Minor Planet Center maintained the NEO Confirmation Page, a web page that contains all the newly discovered objects that cannot be linked to any existing minor planet and that seem to have NEA-like orbits.
Imminent impactors are asteroids, usually very small, that are discovered a few hours before their impact with the Earth. I will describe how we obtain the orbits of possible impactors, how they end up on the NEO Confirmation Page and how the entire system works once an alarm is triggered.
