Biography

Born 7 March 1970 in Leningrad, USSR.
Married, 2 children: Nikita (born 1995) and Sofia (born 2005).
December 1991 graduated from the State Polytechnical University of St-Petersburg;
From February 1992 until 2000 a member of staff of the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, St-Petersburg;
November 1993 PhD degree in physics and mathematics awarded by the Ioffe institute. Thesis supervisor Prof. E.L. Ivchenko;
1997-1998 Postdoc in the group of Prof. P. Lugli, "Tor Vergata", Roma;
1998 Visiting professor at the university of Montpellier;
1998-2005 Professor at the Blaise Pascal university, Clermont-Ferrand, France
Since June 2005 Chair of Nanophysics and Photonics at the University of Southampton (UK);
Since December 2006 Chair of Excellence at the Tor Vergata university, Rome.
