Nanoquanta NoE
Jump to:General Information
On June 1, 2004, the Network of Excellence Nanoquanta was born, as part of European Commission's 6th Framework Programme (FP6). We are proud to be one of the network nodes, along with research groups in Italy, England, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Sweden. Nanoquanta builds on the success of our previous group initiative, the Research Training Network Nanophase.
A recent European Commission report on co-operative efforts in nano-material research used Nanoquanta as a case study, citing our expertise in electronic structure of nano-systems, in quantum-mechanical theory and in computer simulation. Have a look!Specific information about the Nanoquanta Network can be found at the official Nanoquanta homepage hosted in York. The site contains links to member-restricted areas, and to our SmartGroups site where we exchange information amongst ourselves.
More detailed information concerning FP6 can be found at the Cordis website: http://www.cordis.lu/fp6/whatisfp6.htm
Local Information [Back to top]
Here in Tor Vergata we are involved in several of the Nanoquanta work packages, and we recently organized the first Nanoquanta members conference in Acquafredda di Maratea, Italy, in Sept. 2004. See the links in the Events section for further details.
Our expertise in calculating optical spectra of complex systems, coupled with our understanding of many body effects, will be realized in the establishment of the European Theoretical Spectroscopic Facility (ETSF), which we are helping to found. Furthermore we will be involved in a community-wide Masters in Nanoscience. Both of these are aims central to Nanoquanta. Scroll down to learn more.
